When to send baby shower invitations

Send baby shower invitations four to six weeks before the shower. Give out-of-town guests closer to eight weeks, and ask for RSVPs about a week before the date so you can plan food and print enough game sheets.

Digital invitations are perfectly fine for most showers — the same template can be printed for grandparents and anyone who would love a keepsake.

What to include on a baby shower invitation

• The parent-to-be's name (and partner's, for a couples shower)
• Date, start and end time
• Address, with parking or entry notes if needed
• Host name and how to RSVP, with an RSVP-by date
• Registry information — a short line or a separate insert card
• Theme notes: “books instead of cards”, a diaper raffle, or dress code
